Before Jesus returned to the Father, He left the church with instructions to make disciples from all nations. A disciple isn't a pew-sitter, a religious person, or a fanatic. A disciple is an apprentice, a learner. A disciple is someone who is captivated with the beauty of Christ and is following hard after Him. We want to be those kinds of believers and we want to help others know Him as we do.
It is not enough for Pastor Dan to preach about spiritual growth or for our Life Group teachers to present the truth of God’s Word. Our church needs believers committed to modeling the Christian life including sharing our faith and personally discipling those who respond. This is why I believe the Lord is calling us “back to the basics” of one-on-one discipleship relationships – as modeled in the New Testament church. This exciting emphasis is on mature Christian believers helping newer Christian believers live a life of daily prayer, Bible study, and lifestyle evangelism.
I would like to personally encourage you to take a step of faith and allow one of our trained mentors become friends with you and help you grow in your walk with the Lord. These mentors (or disciplers as we like to call them), will model for you what a daily relationship with God is all about. It is so rewarding to have a more mature believer pass along wisdom that comes from years of victories and defeats. There are currently dozens of these friendships going on right now! Let Pastor Dan know if you would like to be discipled.
